Over the last few weeks I’ve been tagged for this Getting to Know You meme a couple of times – by Lightening and Mark of Strawbale House. Check out their sites to get to know them a little better. But before you go, here’s some bits and pieces about me.
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Ten years ago is scary! It seems like another lifetime, yet only yesterday. Ten years ago was before kids, so our life was very different (). We were busy planning our house. We’d purchased our block to build on and were spending every weekend visiting display homes, pretending we knew what we wanted in a house. I’m pleased to say that we’re happy with most of the decisions we made. We’re still living in that house, so that says something.
I was also taking a quilting class. I remember because I used to spend the class telling everyone about our house plans π I made a lovely sampler quilt top in that class – all hand pieced. Unfortunately, it is still languishing in the cupboard waiting to be quilted. Oh, the shame! Maybe I’ll make it one of my August goals to get the quilting started.
Five things on your to do list
- Finish off our tax returns
- Prepare blog posts for next week
- Make an appointment to get my car serviced
- Call a handyman to repair our leaky window
- Clean the fridge
What snacks do you like?
I’m very partial to milk chocolate with hazelnuts. On the more healthy side, I love most fruit. That’s generally the first thing I grab when I’m peckish. Fast, easy and nutritious to boot.
What would you do if you were a billionaire?
Firstly I’d set up some sort of trust to make sure my family was always financially secure. Then I’d set up a charity – possibly something to do with leukaemia research. Of course, I’d go on a massive spending spree too, making sure I bought lots of gifts for the special people in my life.
I’m suffering from here. I’m sure there’s so much more I could do with billions, I just have no idea what! I’ve never seriously contemplated having that much money π
Three bad habits
- I procrastinate
- I say “yes” too much
- My emotions and compassion are sometimes buried a little (lot?) too deeply
Five places you have lived
- I grew up in a small Victorian town
- After school I moved to a “country girls hostel” in Richmond (Melbourne suburb) to go to university
- From there it was my first share house in Preston, another Melbourne suburb
- There were a couple of moves over the next few years, all in the northern suburbs of Melbourne
- Now I live in a smallish town not too far from Melbourne
- Training Manager
- Administration Manager
- Executive PA
- Survey assistant (the land type – I know how to use one of those things over on the right)
- Waitress
How did you name your blog?
I found it really difficult to come up with a name for my blog. I am hopeless at those imaginative, witty titles, usernames, and so on. So I used a thesaurus. I know, nerdy, but I was desperate.
I was planning to write about my life. Writing…chronicle. Life…journey. There you have it.
And that’s me. Or some of me, at least.
I’m not sure how many people I’m supposed to tag, so I’m going to choose three. Three newer commenters to my blog in the last couple of weeks. π As usual, participate only if you want to.
- Eve from Life as I know it
- Meegan from Harveys at home
- Suzanne from 365 days of decluttering
