Smiley Saturday
As I was eating breakfast this morning I was thinking about what I could write for a Smiley Saturday post. Then I read this from an entrant in Lightening’s traveling t-shirt’s series. I had tears rolling down my cheeks, especially from the new mother story. My husband didn’t believe anyone would do that, but those of us who have been paranoid, sleep deprived, frantic new mums know different.
Fortunately, about the worst thing I ever did was locking us out of the house and having to scale the fence to break in through a window.
I’m smiling for a lot of similar reasons to Lightening this week. Although we don’t have a new caravan arriving (I wish) this weekend we are starting to get ready for our two week trip. We all love to get away in the caravan and the kids are even excited to be putting it up this weekend to check everything out. I finally got some things sorted this week that might have stopped us going away, so that definitely put a smile on my face.
We’re trying something different to our usual beach holidays and are heading to south western NSW this time. If anyone has some must see’s or do’s I’d love to hear them.
Enjoy your weekends everyone
There are even more laughs over at Lightening Online this morning.

Don’t have any must see’s or does. Hope you are going to take a lot of photos and share with us.I know how you feel. We had to cancel or last vacation.

Oh yes, I WAS that mother. Utterly naked from the waist down (except shoes, naturally…. I mean, who would be such an idiot as to leave the house without THOSE?), merrily pushing my stroller through the English countryside, splendidly oblivious to the howling gale blowing around my nether regions…..
You note I went on to have three more children though. And installed a full length mirror just inside the front door…..
September 14th, 2008 at 11:46 am@Russ - Yes, lots of pictures will be taken. I would have liked to be taking a better camera with me (a DSLR - wishful thinking
) But if I put my mind to it, I can get a reasonably decent photo out of my compact. Hope you get to go on a vacation soon.
September 14th, 2008 at 1:57 pm@MrsFwith4 - Too funny
At least after you have more than one, the oldest might have enough sense to say “Mummy, why haven’t you got pants on” before you get too far
September 14th, 2008 at 1:59 pmThose entries were great weren’t they? And such an appropriate way to decide on who would get the t-shirt next (making people laugh). It’s good when we can laugh at ourselves (in hindsight of course).
Have fun planning your trip. I find that half the fun.

Caravans are great fun
Are you heading any where near Dubbo - the zoo is amazing.
Trishs last blog post..Screwup Tuesday
September 17th, 2008 at 11:29 amThanks for the suggestion Trish. Dubbo Zoo was on our original itinerary. We decided to stay a little further south this trip though, to minimise our setups. We have Werribee Zoo not to far down the road from home, so we get to have the “African” experience at least once a year. But I’m keen to visit the Dubbo Zoo as well. Probably on our way up to Qld in the not too distant (hopefully) future.
September 17th, 2008 at 1:06 pmI hope you have a wonderful time away. A caravaning holiday is such a great time for the kids. Enjoy your break.
