Smiley Saturday - A little me time

smiley-saturday-2.JPG

One of my goals has been to have a little quality me time. Theoretically, I should have me time every Monday morning when the kids are at school, kinder and childcare. However, it never usually works that way as I am usually helping in The Engineer’s classroom or taking care of committee duties at kinder.

This morning as I was having a very squashy shower with our two girls *sigh* I decided today was the day my me time was going to start. I shooed the girls out of the shower, got them dressed and then advised everyone I was going for a walk. BY MYSELF. The look on the girls faces was just what I expected. Big eyes looking up, welling with tears. Why can’t we come? I’m going for a mum walk, I told them.

What I found most surprising was how excited I felt to be going somewhere BY MYSELF, not running errands for someone or picking someone up, for only 15 minutes. What has my life become?

Anyway I really enjoyed my little walk around the wetlands at the end of our street. I may have been singing a bit too loudly to the iPod (I don’t think anyone heard), but I enjoyed it. So now I am going to make sure I get my little me time walk every couple of days. It makes me smile :-)

Good for you. Everyone needs some to themselves time. You sometimes just have to make it. Take care of yourself.
