It is hard to let go. By the end of this year my eldest will be old enough to walk to and from school on his own. I am trying to mentally prepare myself gradually for this, because even the thought of it makes me worry senseless!

Our son was like that as well. He actually started holding his breath and just stay underwater for a minute or so. At first we were getting really worried but that was just his thing and nothing ever happened.

The only time when something happened was normally when he was playing pool games with his sister and one of them would then graze their knee on the bottom or something like that.

They've both grown out of using the pool now at 20 and 18 respectively.

All in all, I'd say don't worry too much, but still never leave your kids unattended in the pool. We always made sure that one of us was watching them or that they were never alone in the pool.
